BAPTIZE WEEKLY

Elder Green/Mabey - Rego Park 11 Sp - Sep 10, 1995 - "EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN - It's nice to be baptizing weekly, there's nothing like it. We've prayed for it and if you don't give up on your faith, then it just happens. That is how we got our baptism this week, we had no role in it. All we did was find him with the guidance of the Lord. We brought him to church. Elder Savage invited him to pray to receive a confirmation from the Lord that his decision was correct. Moses who is 45, arose with tears in his eyes and wanted to be baptized. It is wonderful to have the spirit confirm our every action. I don't know how he works, but without him, we are nothing!"

Elder Curtis/Pippin - Midwood 1 - July 16, 1995 - "STREAK BROKEN, BUT RESUMED - The weekly baptisms have momentarily stopped after nine consecutive weeks, still a long way from Elder Savage's record of 26 weeks. I have been humbled. But I tell you what I have learned by not baptizing this week. I believe I have come to a greater understanding of baptizing weekly. I believe now there is nothing but Satan himself that can stand in the way of baptizing weekly. Well next week is the beginning of another consecutive streak. I am surprised to see how much jealousy other missionaries have. That's why I'm almost glad I stopped. It was getting difficult to put up with the mockery. But as a good NYNYS missionary, "no fear!" Look for Elder Savage's record to be broken, once I get started again. I sure am happy to be used as an instrument in the Lord's hands."

NOTE: President read this letter in Zone Conference. Many missionaries afterwards came and apologized to Elder Curtis and encouraged him in his efforts to resume his goal of baptizing weekly.

Elder Curtis/Pippin - Bushwick 1 - June 18, 1995 - "JUST FOCUS ON THIS CONCEPT - Well it's your fearless media maniac. President, media referrals are truly worth their weight in gold. The people I have taught and baptized in the last 3 months are truly "golden". All 9 are media referrals. I just love to baptize weekly! This is what it's all about. Not to brag, but it is easy! The idea was very foreign to me and then when it was introduced in Zone Conference, Wow, I said, that would be awesome, if I could baptize weekly. So I set the goal to baptize 10 weeks consecutively! Quite frankly, I don't know how it happened, but it did. Now I just work hard and organize my area. It's all about planning and organizing. There is so much more that I need to do, but baptizing weekly increases your faith, gives you a better reason to be obedient, helps you to be more humble, dependent on the Lord. There is no better feeling in the world. I have learned so much these last 3 months, I owe the Lord a great deal."

Elder Michael Savage - Bushwick 11 Sp - May 21, 1995 - "136 - RECORD LEADER - He is our top Baptizer and at 19 months out has 90 baptisms and has baptized weekly for the last 20 consecutive weeks although being in 3 areas.

NOTE: His mission finished in Nov, 1995, with the record of 136 baptisms, equaled only by Chad Erickson in June, 1996. Elder McNairy at June 20, 1996 at 18 months out was already at 154.

Elder Shae Johnson - Bushwick 11 Sp - May 1, 1995 - "10 WEEKS - Before being transferred Shae had baptized 10 consecutive weeks in two different areas.

Elder Devereaux/Isakson - Bushwick 11 (Sp) - Apr 3, 1995 - "7 WEEKS - This week has been real disappointing for me. We had no baptisms this week. We were working very hard, but I guess I need to work harder. It was sad to not baptize after 7 straight weeks. I now need to start all over again. I know that my district has a lot of potential and we need to work up to our potential. I know that we can do it. Expect miracles out of this district." Note: This companionship baptized 3 the following week.

Elder Peterson/Gerald Davis - Staten Island (Rockland - Eng) - Apr 2, 1995 - "DISTRICT BAPTIZED 7 WEEKS - I felt bad this week. Our District had a little baptismal streak going. It was 7 weeks in a row that we had baptisms. Things were looking good for this week too. Both people that should have been baptized had things come up that could not be overcome. We will get them next week. But the interruption to our momentum was disturbing. We will commence our new streak from next week."

Elder Shae Johnson/Devereaux - Bushwick 11 Sp - Mar 19, 1995 - "6 WEEKS CONSECUTIVELY SO FAR - The area is doing very well. It has been fruitful recently, for the last couple of months. We have been blessed with success. The area has baptized for 6 consecutive weeks. We are happy about that. We have another for this Sunday. We are shooting for 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks. It should be great. I have enjoyed some great joy from seeing us be led to such wonderful people. It is marvelous.
